adjective sketches – some guidelines

video ::
~20 seconds each

process
ad ·jec·tive (
noun)
1. a word that expresses an attribute of something.

Select (at least) three adjectives. For each word, create a short clip that communicates, interprets, or otherwise represents the meaning of the adjective.Try to think of your words first (not think of images and then pick adjectives that would describe them).

Each clip should be short — not more than 20 seconds — and should be one uninterupted shot in the camera; no editing.

writing ::
post some reflective writing along with your adjective sketches. some of the questions that you might engage:
. what was your process for selecting your adjective? why are these words interesting to you in themselves? why are they interesting problems in translation to video?
. what do your video sketches tell you about how you see and/or organize the world? pay attention to things like shot angles, distance from subject, camera movement, lighting, cuts and edits (if any), etc. what do you find in these sketches that is interesting, exciting, surprising, mundane?…
